God Saved Me While In Prison

Wow, Gerriun’s story is powerful—a real testament to how faith and trust in God can carry us through life’s toughest trials.
Imagine just going about your day, rushing to work, thinking it’s going to be a regular one, and then—boom—you get pulled over. What should have been a simple ticket turns into an unexpected, five-day stay in jail over an $80 fine. Can you imagine the confusion? The frustration? That’s exactly where Gerriun found herself.
At first, she was just trying to figure out how to get out as quickly as possible. But things didn’t go that way. It was a holiday, she had to be transferred, and suddenly, what she thought would be a few hours turned into something much bigger. But here’s where it gets interesting—Gerriun was in the middle of a fasting journey, trying to reconnect with God after years away from church. And right there, in the most unlikely of places, she saw His hand at work.
Instead of breaking down, she held on. Even when surrounded by people with much heavier charges—some for murder, robbery—she kept her faith. She prayed. She worshipped. And soon, these women who felt hopeless started coming to her, asking for prayer. And what’s crazy? Prayers were being answered—fast. Women who had been waiting for news from their lawyers or bondsmen suddenly got responses. The atmosphere in that jail shifted, not because of anything she did, but because of the presence of God working through her.
But let’s be real—this wasn’t easy. She was still frustrated. She didn’t understand why she had to be there. She worried about her job, her finances, everything. But even in that uncertainty, God was moving. Her job? Still there. The financial hardship? Handled in a way she never expected. Through it all, she learned that faith isn’t just about believing when things are good—it’s about trusting when nothing makes sense.
And that’s the biggest takeaway—trust. She realized she had a habit of trying to take control, doing things her way. But this experience showed her that God’s plan is always bigger, always better. It ignited a faith in her that has carried her ever since, no matter what life throws her way. And now, she’s focused on staying obedient, surrendering to God’s will, and walking in purpose—even if she doesn’t fully know what that looks like yet.
Because at the end of the day, she’s learned that God’s grace, His faithfulness, and His power to redeem any situation are greater than any mistake, any fear, any struggle. And that’s the kind of faith that changes everything.
